Portable Toilet
In 1991, Doug Mass set out to find a company, currently operating in the Greater Vancouver area, which had
been built around a strong commitment to customer service, but had remained relatively small. Doug found
that company in Maple Leaf Disposal Ltd. At this time, Maple Leaf operated 2 roll off trucks and 20 containers,
in the Greater Vancouver area, primarily servicing the construction trades. Doug realized that he had found
what he was looking for and set about negotiating the acquisition of Maple Leaf Disposal Ltd. This deal was
consummated in 1992.

Doug now had the base from which to commence growing his vision and growing he did. Today’s Maple Leaf
Disposal Ltd. operates 15 roll off trucks and 600 containers, in the Greater Vancouver area. In addition to
servicing the construction trades, Maple Leaf Disposal Ltd. now services a wide variety of industrial and
institutional businesses, as well.

Throughout the early and mid 1990’s, Maple Leaf Disposal Ltd.'s building trades customers began requesting
that Maple Leaf Disposal Ltd. employ its’ strong commitment to customer service, to the portable toilet
business. Additionally, a number of these customers had begun doing work, in the Interior of British Columbia
and were having a problem with the level of service being provided there. With the commencement of Maple
Disposal Inc., it was decided that portable toilets would also be added as a service that Maple Leaf Disposal
Ltd. would supply.

By late 1998, Maple Leaf Disposal Ltd. was servicing a large number of industrial and institutional customers,
that either owned or leased, their own compactors. On a number of occasions, these customers were having
problems with obtaining skilled maintenance people, to service these units, as well as sales people
knowledgeable enough to foresee the operational problems of where and how to install these units to make
them accessible to the truck for servicing. Once again, Doug saw an opportunity to fill a void in the market
place. In early 1999, Doug formed A-1 Compaction Sales, Service & Leasing Inc. With its’ inherent operational
expertise, A-1 was acquiring contracts at a rapid rate. By late 1999, a small compactor sales company, known
as Creekside Recycling, approached Doug and offered the company for sale. Doug viewed this as an
opportunity to increase the preventative maintenance program A-1 was offering. Within weeks, A-1 acquired
Creekside and quickly established itself in the compactor and baler market.

In 2002 Maple Leaf Disposal Ltd. again found yet another way to service their customers by adding a new
division devoted to front-end service. And in 2007 A-1 Compaction added Baler Wire Sales to its reperatoire.
